Brighton under-17 player Harrison Kross has set aside his pace bowling ambitions to take a match-winning 5/15 with off spin on the weekend.
After winning the toss and batting first on Brighton #2, Payneham were cruising at 3/93 when Kross dismissed their leading batter for 62. This sparked an avalanche of wickets as the Dukes crumbled to be all out for 119.
Harry, who normally bowls pace but decided to give his spinners a go on Sunday, finished with 5/15 off eight overs, including three maidens. He was well supported by Jude Pope (2/14) and Angus Smith (1/3 from 5 overs).
Despite losing an early wicket, the young Bombers approached the chase with cool heads, passing the total five wickets down before finishing on 7/129.
Skipper Max Mathews top scored with 31 before retiring. Jacob Constable (23 retired) and Tom McSporran (20) also made solid contributions with the bat.
The win moves Brighton into the top four.
