A dedicated band of community volunteers returned to Brighton Cricket Club this week as part of SA Volunteers Day celebrations.
Held on the King's Birthday public holiday, the afternoon aimed to recognise the countless hours spent by dozens of BCC members - players past and present, coaches, parents, siblings, grandparents and long-time friends of the club.
Their many and varied contributions include a plethora of tasks from coaching and managing teams, organising events, preparing equipment, sitting on committees through to working behind the bar and running barbecues.
Without the efforts of these volunteers, the Brighton Cricket Club could not operate.
BCC volunteers were joined at the event by SACA CEO Charlie Hodgson who spoke about his personal cricket journey from The Oval & Surrey CC in London to the Adelaide Oval. Charlie indulged the members in a Q&A discussion and provided candid insights into a wide range of issues raised including the proposed changes to SACA's local cricket structure.
This was followed by gourmet nibbles washed down with a few tasty beverages.
A big thank you to the all members and volunteers who give up their time to contribute to Brighton Cricket Club each season.
