Big win has girls on a roll

The Brighton under-12 girls team remains top of the ladder after a fantastic performance against Marion Green on Friday night.

Brighton won the toss and batted first, piling on the impressive total of 2/115 from its 16 overs.

Nicole D got Brighton off to a great start opening the batting and making her highest score of the season of 8 including her first 4 with a straight drive.

Emily S top scored with a whirlwind 22 of 13 balls, which is also her highest score of the season so far.

Her knock featured 5 fours including a classic drive over the cover the fielder that bounced just inside the boundary before racing away.

The Bomber girls were just as impressive in the field, restricting Marion to 9/48.

Opening bowler Irene A got the innings off to a perfect start by clean bowling Marion’s opening batter middle stump with her first delivery.

Emily S took 2/4 and Grace D claimed one of her first wicket as a leg-spinner.

While the bowling was excellent, it was the fielders who stole the show with four run outs.

Charli H effected two run outs and Keerthana H made a direct hit from side one at point to dismiss one of the Marion batters.

Milla H also hit the stumps twice in one over when the batter had just made her ground.

The Brighton girls have now won seven of eight matches and are improving with every game.
